Bucks County man who ‘violently shook’ his young son sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison

Tyler Sullivan (Bucks County District Attorney)

A Bucks County man could spend up to 30 years behind bars after prosecutors say he “severely shook” his four-month-old son, causing his death.

Tyler Sullivan, 30, was arrested last May and pleaded guilty later that month to first-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators said officers were called to a home in Bristol County on May 24, 2023, because a four-month-old boy had gone into cardiac arrest.

According to investigators, the infant was not breathing when officers arrived and was taken to Lower Bucks Hospital, where he died.

Doctors found several injuries on the child’s body that “indicated an abused child,” including bruises, hematomas and abrasions.

Investigators later concluded that Sullivan had “shaken the child violently” at least twice on the day of his death and six times in the weeks leading up to it.

The child’s mother said at the sentencing on Tuesday that she could never return to the apartment she shared with Sullivan and the child.

“My baby deserves a long, happy and wonderful life,” she said.

According to prosecutors, Sullivan expressed his remorse in a tearful statement on Tuesday and admitted “how guilty and ashamed I am.”
