NYC this weekend: Dominican Day Parade, Panda Day

NEW YORK – The 42nd annual Dominican Day Parade will be held on Sunday, August 11th, on Sixth Avenue in New York City.
The cultural festival welcomes more than a million people and organizers every year.
Here’s what to expect if you’re looking to attend the parade or avoid traffic this weekend.
NYC Dominican Day Parade 2024
The parade begins at noon on the Avenue of the Americas and runs from 37th to 55th Street.
There is Merengue, Salsa, Dembow and Bachata. The theme this year is “Merengue Nuestro Ritmo”, which means Merengue, our rhythm.
Organizers say the theme embodies the spirit of the Dominican people.
41st Annual National Dominican Day Parade
To celebrate, the Dominican Day Parade marched down 6th Avenue in Manhattan. Ashlie Rodriguez of Fox 5 NY reports.
Who is the Grand Marshal?
This year’s Grand Marshal is the merengue band Los Hermanos Rosario.
Road closures at the Dominican Day Parade in NYC
The following streets will be closed at the discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan for the Dominican Day Parade on Sunday, August 11th.
Expect heavy traffic near and around Sixth Avenue between 37th and 55th Streets.
Education:
- 6th Avenue between 37th Street and 38th Street
- 36th Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue
- 38th, 37th Street between 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue
Route:
- 6th Avenue between 36th Street and 55th Street

- 55th Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue
- 55th Street between 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue
