GAME NOTES – SAMFORD AT ARMY (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama –
The Samford football team will play on the road for the first time in 2024, playing at Army in West Point, NY on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT.
This will be only the second time Samford and Army have met in women’s soccer. The only previous meeting was on Sept. 1, 2022, when the teams played a 1-1 tie at Shauna Yelton Field.
The Bulldogs enter Wednesday night’s game with a record of 2-1-1. Samford opened the 2024 season with an impressive 3-1 win over Tennessee Tech, then lost 6-0 to No. 15 Notre Dame, fought to a 3-3 tie with UAB and picked up a 4-0 win over Troy.
Samford has been led this season by Fleming Dean And Layton Glisson with two goals each. Ella Simpson has one goal and one assist, while Caroline Donovan, Hanna Rae Himes, Anna Maria Major, Anna Martin And Alexa Minestrella each have a goal. Brooklyn Miller has given three assists, while Clare Nicholas has two assists and Sarah Holland And Brigid McElderry each have one assist.
Army enters Wednesday night’s contest with a 3-1 record on the young season. The Golden Knights opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Wake Forest, but then picked up wins over Manhattan (3-0), UMass (3-2) and Central Connecticut (2-0).
The Army has been led by Bella Conti and Bella Cooke with two goals and an assist each so far this season. Kaelon Bradley, Sabrina Rogers and Cami Silvestro each have a goal and an assist. Maddi Woodward has also scored a goal.
