Kelly Monaco leaves General Hospital after 21 years

“General Hospital” star Cameron Mathison and his wife separate after 22 years of marriage

Port Charles will never be the same again.

After 21 years and more than 2,000 episodes, actress Kelly Monaco leaves General Hospitalaccording to several reports. The 48-year-old actress began her career in General Hospital Spin-off, Port Charlesin the role of Livvie Locke in 2000. When this show was cancelled, Monaco moved to General Hospitalwhere she played the main character Sam McCall from 2003 onwards.

Monaco is expected to leave the series in the fall and several media outlets are speculating that her character may be killed off.

The Soap Opera Network was the first to report on the shocking departure.

Monaco’s work in the world of soap operas earned her two Daytime Emmy nominations – one in 2003 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series about Port Charles and in 2006 for Best Actress in a Drama Series about General Hospital.

In addition to her work as an actress, Monaco also won the first Mirrorball Trophy at Dancing with the stars 2005 alongside dance professional Val Chmerkovskiy. She also finished third in the show in 2012 Dancing with the Stars: All StarsThe former dance couple reunited in January for the primetime special General Hospital: 60 years of stars and stories.
