Is Sonic coming to Fortnite? — SiegeGG

Is Sonic coming to Fortnite? — SiegeGG

It may surprise you, but Epic Games has not yet agreed to a collaboration with SEGA, and rumors of a Sonic skin for Fortnite have been circulating among fans for a long time and are eagerly awaited.

The blue hedgehog is in for an incredible second half of the year, with Sonic x Shadow Generations coming out later in October and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 set to hit theaters in December.

Earlier this year, rumors of a Persona collaboration led to speculation about SEGA’s involvement with Epic Games, as many are convinced that an iconic character like Sonic will appear in the battle royale.

Fortnite Sonic skin: When is it coming out?

Unfortunately, there’s no official confirmation that a Sonic skin will be coming to Fortnite anytime soon. However, some recent news could potentially give us a glimpse into the type of collaboration we could see in the future, and Sonic seems to be part of Epic’s plans.

Sonic x Shadows Generations will be released in October

The biggest clue we have is a survey sent to Fortnite players in October 2023, which Epic used to gauge interest in upcoming crossovers. Among the franchises listed was the name Sonic.

Timing is everything when it comes to collaborations with Epic. Right now, gamers are enjoying the fourth season of Chapter 5, which is a Marvel-themed game. While it may seem like another superhero-filled season at first glance, the reasoning behind it is pretty clear: Disney wants to reposition characters like Doctor Doom and Fantastic Four as recognizable names ahead of their MCU debut in 2025.

With Sonic and SEGA, the situation is completely different: after two successful films and even a spin-off mini-series about Knuckles, the blue hedgehog has become a popular icon outside of the gaming world.

The latest game in the series, Sonic Frontiers, was also a commercial success. The game was released in 2022 and SEGA reported that it had sold 3.5 million copies by May 2023.

As things stand, it seems to be only a matter of time before Sonic and some of his companions make their way to Fortnite, with Epic Games offering a wide range of characters.
