There is a good chance of rain today, but drier air is ahead

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The moisture will continue today, but it will be a little drier than yesterday. We will continue to experience an east wind that will keep the afternoon sea breeze near the coast. Most of the rain will fall in the corridor between the highway and the Gulf waters. This is because the sea breeze will remain near the coast, as will the sea breeze convergence zone. This zone will develop the rising air necessary for our rain.

From Wednesday onwards, drier air will move in, reducing the chance of rain. The chance of rain will remain low for several days, with only isolated showers possible. However, this decrease in the chance of rain will only be short-lived. Over the weekend, moisture will return and the chance of rain will begin to increase.

The Hurricane Center is currently monitoring an area in the central Atlantic and is giving it a 20% probability for the next 7 days and 0% for the next 2 days. At this point, it still seems likely that we could end August without an active tropical cyclone in the Atlantic basin.

The big weather theme across the country today will be scorching heat. From the northern states to the Deep South and from the Atlantic coast to the Front Range, temperatures will range from 86 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The three-month forecast for Florida suggests we will experience hotter and more humid conditions than normal.
