5:02 p.m. – The on-site operations command has now been disbanded and the units are back in action.

A burn line has been drawn around the fire, which contains embers. Within the fire area, the embers are expected to smolder and emit smoke until they burn out.

In some places on the west side of the street, near some houses, very small fires had broken out, but the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire early.

No injuries were reported and no building damage occurred.

3:35 p.m. – Mobile Fire Department units were dispatched to a wildfire in the 5900 block on the east side of Old Rangeline Road around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, August 26, 2024.

Engine 7, Brush 1, Truck 10, Engine 28 and District 2 were dispatched by the MFRD and are currently on site.

Other agencies assisted in fighting the fire, including the Theodore Dawes and St. Elmo fire departments and the Alabama Forestry Commission.

The fire was contained, but in some places in the forest it is still smoldering and smoking. When the emergency services are no longer needed, they will be withdrawn from the fire scene.
