Kelly Hall is named Big South Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – She scored her second personal win of the year in three tries when her team defeated Furman away from home, the longtime goalkeeper Kelly Hall of the Presbyterian College women’s soccer team was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week.

Hall was selected on Monday afternoon and received the honor – PC’s first defensive POTW win since 2022 – after stopping eight shots and posting a first-half shutout in the win over the Paladins.

The Georgia native has been a key player in Presby’s strong start (defeating both Wofford and Furman in hostile environments) and has recorded 17 interceptions in her last two appearances, including nine in a close loss to the College of Charleston last Sunday.

Six of her eight saves against the Paladins came in the first 45 minutes, earning her her sixth individual victory in a Presbyterian uniform and helping the head coach Matt SmithThe team achieved a 2-0 victory against the teams of the Southern Conference.

Kelly has played all 270 minutes for PC this season, stopping 19 shots and saving 83 percent of the balls that came her way.

In her final season with the Blue Hose, Hall is approaching the 3,000-minute mark of her career while making 167 total saves. She has posted three shutouts and posted a .736 save percentage during her time in Clinton.

Presbyterian returns to the field this Thursday for an August edition of Senior Night, where Hall will be one of five individuals honored for her immense contributions to PC women’s soccer.

It will face Southern Wesleyan in its second home game of the semester at 7 p.m. and then quickly turn its attention to another in-state opponent on Sunday when South Carolina State arrives on Sept. 1.
