Will Sam be recast?

Soap Opera Network reported that sources confirmed Monaco will no longer play Sam on the ABC soap. SON reported that the network has decided to axe the character altogether. It sounds like Monaco was “blindsided” by the information after he started playing Sam in 2003.

Monaco has been active in the GH franchise during the daytime throughout her career. From 2000 to 2003, she portrayed Livvie Locke in the GH spinoff Port Charles. She played Livvie until the show was canceled and then moved on to play Sam on GH.

Over the course of her more than two-decade career on the daytime television network, Monaco has been nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy. One nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2003 for her portrayal of Livvie and the second nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Sam in 2006.

In addition to her daytime work, Monaco competed on the first season of the primetime hit Dancing with the Stars in 2005. Fans will remember that Monaco won the first-ever Mirror Ball trophy. Then, in 2012, she returned for the All-Stars season, where she placed third, unable to repeat her Mirror Ball win. She also danced the Rumba with Terrell Owens in 2017 for the 25th anniversary of DWTS.
