Brian Kelly gives an update on the injuries of two key players before the USC game

Brian Kelly spoke to the media on Monday and gave an update on the injuries to two key players.

Wide receiver Chris Hilton and offensive lineman Miles Frazier are both expected to start on the Tigers’ offense and both have struggled with injuries recently. Kelly spoke about their potential availability for LSU’s season opener, now less than a week away.

“Miles should be here training for us tomorrow, so we listed him as probable,” Kelly said. “Chris will be walking around with our trainers today and we’ll be able to get a better idea of his situation. That’s why we listed him as questionable. Because we haven’t seen him walking around.”

Kelly pointed to Tyree Adams and Paul Mubenga as players who could replace Frazier if needed. However, Frazier is listed as “probable,” and Kelly explained the reasoning behind that ranking.

As for Hilton, Kelly has identified redshirt freshman Kyle Parker as an option if starter Hilton is unavailable.

“Kyle Parker will be next in line in that situation,” Kelly said. “He had a great training camp and we’re very confident in what he could do for us.”

Hilton is expected to play a much larger role in 2024 than he did in 2023. Last season, Hilton finished with 13 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns after being buried in the rankings behind Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Kyren Lacy.

The Tigers open the 2024 season on Sunday, September 1, against the USC Trojans.
