The district has a new tool to help people find affordable housing.

A interactive website and map is now available to search for affordable housing projects built with county funds.

The Affordable Housing Map with Country-Specific Restrictions lists existing and under-construction housing projects.

Users can search by location and learn details about each property, such as income limits and the eligible population served by each property, such as veterans, older adults, families and individuals, or transition-age youth, such as those who have been in foster care.

The website also provides details about affordable housing projects, such as the size and type of units available, including the number of bedrooms per unit.

Listings include direct links to the websites of the developers or organizations operating the property, as well as contact information. Individuals seeking affordable housing should contact the property directly to learn about availability, application procedures, and other requirements. Many of the listings include links to waiting lists.

“We are excited to bring this new interactive tool to county residents seeking housing,” said David Estrella, director of county Housing and Community Development Services. “Bringing together all of the county-funded options into one resource will help members of our community navigate this often stressful search.”

The new map corresponds to that of the countyBuilding plan for apartments, the county’s guidance and ongoing response to the regional housing crisis.

Since 2017, the county has invested $310 million in affordable housing using surplus land, the Innovative Housing Trust Fund, and other federal, state, and local funding sources administered by the county. These funds have opened 2,100 units, with another 3,300 planned.
