Megyn Kelly criticizes post calling Doug Emhoff a sex symbol

Megyn Kelly has sharply criticized a Washington Post journalist for calling Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, a “sex symbol” in her latest article “Doug Emhoff, Modern Sex Symbol.”

“The media is absolutely disgusting,” Kelly said of The Washington Post’s Catherine Rampell and her column, which was published Friday. In the story, Rampell describes Emhoff’s background as a former corporate lawyer, his past statements praising feminism and how he represents the “modern female fantasy.” The article calls on longtime Hollywood heartthrobs like Ryan Gosling to “step aside.”

Kelly felt that Rampell was trying to rehabilitate her favor with Democratic readers.

“That’s very interesting… She’s the one who wrote the article tearing Kamala’s economic plan to pieces because of the price gouging and saying that’s ridiculous when they accuse you of being a communist and maybe you shouldn’t propose communism as an economic plan,” Kelly said. “(Rampell) was ripped apart by her readers on the left because of the current second gentleman, a man who, if I may remind you, cheated on his first wife with the nanny he impregnated.”

She continued: “Either they aborted the child or he abandoned it. Either way, not good.”

Emhoff admitted to having an extramarital affair during his first marriage to Kerstin Emhoff. The two separated after the other woman, whose name was not disclosed, became pregnant. Emhoff reportedly shared that the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. According to CBS, two sources familiar with the situation said the woman was a teacher and not a nanny as Kelly claimed.

Neither Harris nor her campaign team have portrayed Emhoff as the “most reckless,” but they have featured Emhoff’s face on promotional materials such as T-shirts. The official Harris and Walz store is completely sold out of clothing featuring the younger Emhoff. His T-shirts are part of the campaign’s “throwback” memorabilia. Other items include pictures of Harris from her college days, and the website even has an entire clothing section dedicated to Walz, titled “Coach’s Collection.”
