Rockets land coveted star at extremely high price

Rockets land coveted star at extremely high price

There has been a lot of talk about the Houston Rockets’ will to win. For months, there has been a lot of digital talk about the Rockets’ interest in making a big move for a star player.

Things seemed to heat up in the offseason when ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski linked the franchise to the Phoenix Suns duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Suns owner Mat Ishbia took to social media to dampen reports of the two players’ availability.

The Rockets are more than ready to wait for the Suns to implode and hit the dreaded restart button, which will only be a matter of time.

USA Today’s Wrightway Sports Network broke down a deal between the two franchises that would send Booker to Houston in exchange for a package the Suns would have a hard time turning down.

The frame is below:
Rockets land: Devin Booker
Sunnyland: Jalen Green, Tari Eason, Cam Whitmore, two future first-round picks (including trade with the Nets)

Let’s pause for a moment. This is quite a deal.

First of all, is Booker worth all this to Houston? Maybe it depends on how highly you value him.

Second, this deal is not financially feasible, as the Rockets would also have to bring Steven Adams and Jeff Green into the game (which would certainly not be a problem for Houston).

The author’s statement can be found below:

“In Houston, Devin Booker would pair with Alperen Şengün to form a potentially lethal duo. Şengün, known for his high basketball IQ, passing ability and post-game play, has been compared to Nikola Jokić. Pairing him with a dynamic scorer like Booker could create a chemistry similar to that developed by Jokić and Jamal Murray in Denver. Booker’s versatility in scoring and Şengün’s playmaking would make them one of the league’s most dangerous duos, capable of taking the Rockets deep into the playoffs.

The Rockets have steadily built a young and promising roster, but the signing of Devin Booker could be a game-changer. Booker’s outstanding scoring ability and experience would greatly strengthen Houston’s offense and leadership. The Rockets’ current roster includes young talents such as Jabari Smith Jr., Amen Thompson, Reed Sheppard and Alperen Sengun. The signing of Booker, along with Sengun, would create a formidable offensive duo reminiscent of the successful pairing of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray in Denver.”

He continues.

“With Devin Booker, the Rockets would have an immediate scoring threat and a leader with playoff experience. His ability to create shots and make plays for others would complement the existing talents of Jabari Smith Jr., Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun.

This proposed trade between the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns is a bold move that could benefit both teams. For Houston, signing Devin Booker would accelerate their path to the league, while Phoenix would gain two promising young talents and valuable draft assets. With both Green and Whitmore having proven their potential, this trade could lay the foundation for a new era of success for both franchises.”

While this is a high price, it is likely close to what the Suns are asking for their young superstar, especially since they don’t want to trade him away. The good thing for the Rockets is that it would be very difficult for another team to outbid them on a deal for Booker based on this framework.
