Today, August 26, Jungle Cruise closed for a nearly two-month renovation at Magic Kingdom. The start date for this renovation has been known for over a month and a half, and Disney had previously stated that the attraction would reopen to guests before the winter holidays. In early August, Walt Disney World’s park calendar showed that the attraction would reopen on October 18.

On all days between now and October 17, Jungle Cruise is listed as temporarily unavailable alongside La Princesa de Cristal – Caribbean Plaza. The photo above shows that on Friday, October 18, only the Adventureland Shop at Magic Kingdom will be unavailable.

Disney has not released any specific details about what this renovation might entail. However, a permit for “general construction” was applied for in April of this year from Underwater Engineering Services Inc. The permit expires in October 2025. Typically, permits are applied for for one year, so the fact that this permit was applied for for a longer period could mean that extensive work will be done on the attraction.

Jungle Cruise has undergone several updates in recent years. Earlier this year, the queue underwent a major renovation, and in 2021, new scenes were added to remove culturally insensitive elements.
