10-year-old boy hit and killed while cycling in Davis County

CLEAR FIELD — A 10-year-old boy was struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle Saturday, suffering fatal injuries, according to Clearfield police.

The boy was traveling south on Chelemes Way shortly before 5 p.m., police said. As he attempted to cross the intersection, he was struck by the truck traveling east on 1900 South.

“This is a four stop sign intersection in a residential area and it appears the vehicle had just begun to enter the intersection when the cyclist attempted to cross the intersection,” police said.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Holy Cross Hospital in Davis County. Clearfield police said his condition worsened after arrival and he died at the hospital. The boy was from Layton, but no further information about him has been released.

According to police, the driver of the truck remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with investigators. As of Monday afternoon, no charges have been filed and no citations have been issued.
