Driver raced into clubhouse in Half Moon Bay after medical emergency

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY – An unspecified medical emergency caused a car to crash into a building in a new development.

At around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, a Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department vehicle was stopped shortly after a car accident occurred at the entrance to Half Moon Bay in which a vehicle crashed into the clubhouse building.

The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, Croton EMS, an Ossining paramedic and Croton Police were soon on the scene.

The vehicle was quickly stabilized. Power and gas supplies to the buildings were shut off while firefighters stabilized the damaged overhang with Paratech struts and checked the building for further structural damage.

According to the fire department, nearly three dozen members from all five companies were on scene and worked for nearly three hours. The vehicle was recovered by A&P Towing and the building was turned over to the Croton Village Building Department and Half Moon Bay Property Management.

The driver was able to escape from the vehicle and was taken by emergency services to a nearby hospital for examination, fire officials said.

“Thank you to all of our emergency responders for their quick response today in Half Moon Bay,” village officials posted on social media.
