Intersection: A woman was allegedly raped by a youth while she was collecting mushrooms in a jungle within the limits of Khuntuni police station in Cuttack (Odiha) district.

The 45-year-old woman had gone to the forest with other women to collect mushrooms on Saturday. However, she got separated from them and went to another area to collect mushrooms. A youth from Baghua village took advantage of her loneliness and allegedly raped her.

The case only came to light after the woman told her husband about her experiences. As a result, a village-level meeting was held yesterday and it was decided to file a complaint against the accused.

Later, the woman, with the help of her husband, filed a rape complaint against the accused youth, after which the Khuntuni police arrested him for questioning.
