According to a social media message posted over the weekend, September 21 will be the last day for The Wild Burrito, which operated in Wildwood for 13 seasons.

“This post is filled with sadness,” said owner Joe Carpenter. “It has been a pleasure serving customers from the Wildwood area and around the world.”

Known for its specialties like avocado fries, the unique restaurant began in Wildwood Crest over a decade ago before moving to its Ocean Avenue location in 2017.

Wild Burrito will be open daily until September 2, the owner announced on Facebook. After that, the restaurant will only be open on Fridays and Saturdays until September 21.

With his announcement, Carpenter encouraged readers to “support our local businesses on the island.”

Carpenter did not give an exact reason for the decision to close, but noted that the past two years have been challenging for many businesses in the area.
