London’s most scenic half marathon returned on Sunday with its biggest race ever, attracting thousands of participants from all walks of life.

At the seventh edition of the London Landmarks Half Marathon, over 18,500 runners took over the city.

The capital’s cult event is the only half marathon in central London, covering both the City of London and Westminster as well as all of the capital’s attractions.

This year, runners and wheelchair users passed impressive sights throughout the city, from the Cheesegrater to the Scapel.

Wheelchair users were first to cross the start line in Pall Mall, followed by visually impaired runners with guides. They were followed by waves of charity runners representing the city’s diversity.

The huge running event attracted a host of celebrities, Guinness World Record holders and incredible costumed runners, including the legendary London Landmark Costumes Team.

The race is a not-for-profit event organised by pregnancy and baby charity Tommy’s. London Landmarks Half Marathon race director Lia Fyles said:

“The event was very special in many ways. Not only did we raise over £50 million for charity, which is massive, but it was also our biggest race ever in terms of numbers of participants.

“The atmosphere was amazing as everyone came together and showed how inclusive running can be. We want as many people as possible, regardless of their background or ability, to experience the magic that comes with taking part in our very special event.

“Being able to entertain the runners and give something back to them as they run the course ensures that this is a day to remember for all of us. Congratulations to everyone who took part this year and a huge thank you – every penny raised will make a real difference to the charities supported.”
