Lake Weir Football celebrates season opener of 2024 high school football season
Lake Weir, the 2023 Sunshine Athletic Association state champion, begins the 2024 high school football season with a 56-8 win over Bronson
The 2024-25 high school sports season in Florida will see fall sports in full swing, including the granddaddy of them all, football.
The county’s volleyball teams also opened their schedules last week. Trinity Catholic, Lake Weir, Meadowbrook Academy and Vanguard were the only teams to survive the first wave of games undefeated. Marion County’s football teams also attracted a lot of attention and had several nominees for the title of “Athlete of the Week.”
