With their latest single “Old or Young,” Bean Magazine seem ready to enter a new season.
The upbeat indie rock track combines cheerful guitar sounds with a sense of emotional transition, similar to a chrysalis developing into a butterfly.
“Am I old or young or clever?” asks frontman Henry Creamer, who is supported in the band by Gabrielle Beiers (drums) and Seb Baren (bass), who complete the trio.
Your EP, In the shadowwill be released on September 19th and includes “Old Or Young” as well as the current singles “Chicken” and “3”.
“We have been working on this work, In the shadow and are so excited until it finally sees the light of day,” says Bears.
“When we presented these songs to our producer Sam over a year ago, he immediately expressed a similar level of enthusiasm. ‘Old or Young’ in particular feels nostalgic to us and conveys an immense sense of home. The EP as a whole encompasses everything we have been as a band since the beginning and we want everyone to love it as much as we do.”
Bean Magazine has also signed to Purple Phase, a joint venture with Warner Music Australia.
“We are so happy to have this opportunity. It has been our dream from the beginning to get our first record deal and the experience so far has been amazing. Flying to Sydney and meeting the team from Purple Phase and Warner Music didn’t seem real. I even got to try my very first oyster!” says Baren about the contract signing.
The band is currently touring with Rum Jungle and will soon be appearing at BIGSOUND in Brisbane, before embarking on a national tour with The Rubens in September and October.
Bean Magazine has a strong reputation in Brisbane, headlining sold-out shows at venues such as The Brightside, Felons Barrel Hall and The Outpost, and opening for bands such as Ball Park Music.
