As soon as you drop down the list past the number one spot, eyebrows are raised. Mason finds himself in second place, ahead of third-place Stevenson, who is himself ranked higher than Lomachenko. FrankMartinwho lost the last fight with Davis 30-0, is in fifth place. Then the 2020 Olympic medalist, Andy Cruzfollows, and then comes Floyd Schofield at 7.

Keshawn Davis, William Zepeda, And Camel Moton held the other three spots. It seems that Ellis confused potential and youth with actual success in the ring. This ultimately aroused the anger of fans, who did not shy away from denigrating the list in the comments section.

Fans are outraged by the ranking

One fan pointed out that Mason, who is ranked 2nd at 15-0 and even higher than interim WBC champion Zepeda, doesn’t make sense. He wrote: “Mason so high and Zepeda so low, it’s crazy.”

One user who refuted Mason’s bias believed they wanted to see how the 20-year-old boxer fares against more experienced veterans in the division such as Stevenson and Lomachenko. They demanded: “If that’s the case, I want to see Abdullah against Loma or Shakur.”

Someone also questioned the credibility of Stevenson at number 3. They doubted the resume of the WBC champion, who is thinner compared to Lomachenko. In addition, they also placed Martin in the category of proven fighters. They announced: “I think Shakur is great, but he hasn’t proven he’s better than Loma or Frank.”

One comment criticized Davis for his choice of opponents, claiming the Baltimore native tends to pick smaller opponents with disadvantages. The comment read: “Gervonta, who has never fought an opponent his size and/or without advantages, is your number 1??? LMAO.”

Another fan argued for Schofield, who is only 21 years old and has a record of 17-0 but has not had a great amateur career. They also criticized Mason for his second place finish. They stated: “That’s stupid of us. Schofield better than Zepeda? I can’t take that seriously. And Mason is great, but hasn’t proven nearly enough to be above some of the other guys.”

Recently another user referred Timothy Bradley‘s four-year-old statement when he mocked Davis for fighting against not so well-known names. They commented: “A joke, naming a guy who fights cab drivers 8 rounds for a three division champion makes your whole list a joke!!!”
