“The form is good and I feel good too” – Sepp Kuss is quite optimistic despite another weaker Vuelta day

Sepp Kuss finished the extremely tough ninth stage of the Vuelta a Espana in 15th place. The 29-year-old American was several minutes behind the other classified riders at the finish and crossed the finish line alongside Mattias Skjelmose and Cristian Rodriguez.

In the group of favorites, Kuss had to let some of the other general classification riders go on the final climb. “As expected, it was a difficult day,” said Kuss afterwards. “I couldn’t immediately assess how I felt today. The heat played its role from the beginning. On the final climb, I decided to set my own pace. Looking back, I’m happy that I was able to limit the damage again.”

“I’m in good shape and I feel good too. Many riders are in top form at the moment. I’m trying to concentrate on my own performance now. There are still two long weeks ahead of me at this Vuelta. We’ll see what they offer,” the American concluded.

The Visma | Lease a Bike rider therefore remains in 14th place in the overall standings, but the top spots are once again a little further apart, as Kuss is now more than 4 minutes behind Primoz Roglic and more than 8 minutes behind the red jersey of Ben O’Connor.
