Observations on the first half Commanders vs Patriots

Observations on the first half Commanders vs Patriots

The Washington Commanders hosted the New England Patriots on Sunday in their third and final preseason game. Here are some observations from the first half of the Commanders’ game against the Patriots.

  1. Jeff Driskel played the entire first half, completing 12 of his 18 attempts for 73 yards. He had one bad interception where he stared at his receiver and threw directly into coverage he didn’t see.
  2. Cole Turner dropped a pass again and Joe Giles-Harris of the Patriots intercepted him. This is Turner’s third season and he hasn’t been impressive the last two weeks. We’ll see if Colton Yankoff gets the fourth tight end spot on the roster.
  3. I’m not sure about Noah Igbinoghene. Initially I thought he would definitely make the squad, but he missed two tackles in the first half.
  4. Armani Taylor Prioleau tried to make the roster as an offensive tackle, but one play that sticks out in my mind is when he was intercepted and pushed all the way back to Driskel, forcing Driskel to stop passing the ball and step up and get tackled at the line of scrimmage.
  5. KJ Henry was completely unblocked when he caught Jacoby Brissett, which appeared to cause shoulder pain to Brissett. Henry had good penetration on two more plays, disrupting the Patriots offense.
