BALTIMORE – An 8-year-old boy was injured Saturday afternoon after falling about 12 feet from a zip line at Camp Letts in Anne Arundel County, according to fire officials.
The girl was breathing but was flown to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore in serious condition, a spokesman said.
Camp Letts is a camp operated by the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington.
A spokesman said there was a private event hosted by an outside organization using the camp and that an outside vendor set up the zip line.
“The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington has been notified that a participant at a private event hosted by an outside organization on the property of the YMCA Camp Letts Retreat Center was injured,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “The YMCA has received a report that a youth guest fell while using a zip line provided by an outside vendor specifically for the event. The Y is praying for the participant’s full recovery.”
