PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania. – Authorities are investigating several serious incidents that occurred throughout Philadelphia on Sunday, August 25, 2024, including a death, vandalism, a stabbing and a shooting.

West Philadelphia Death Investigation

At approximately 9:47 a.m., police discovered a decomposed body hanging from a tree in the woods near the 1400 block of N 66th Street in West Philadelphia. Medic 41 arrived on the scene and pronounced the subject dead at 9:50 a.m. The scene remains secured while Southwest Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the death. No further details have been released.

Vandalism on East Monmouth Street

Police responded to reports of vandalism in the 2600 block of East Monmouth Street in the Kensington neighborhood on Sunday morning. Several homes and vehicles were sprayed with red paint in what appeared to be a targeted act of vandalism. The properties affected include five homes on the following blocks: 29XX Edgemont Street, 26XX Birch Street, 26XX E Ann Street, and two addresses on 29XX Edgemont Street. In addition, three vehicles were also sprayed. The East Detective Division is investigating the incident, but no suspects have been identified yet.

Stabbing at 1 Franklin Town Blvd

A 27-year-old man was critically injured after being stabbed in the lower back at approximately 7:55 a.m. in the vestibule of 1 Franklin Town Blvd in the Spring Garden neighborhood. Police transported the victim to Jefferson Center City Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition. The scene is currently being guarded by investigators and the weapon used in the stabbing has been recovered. A male suspect is in custody and Central Detectives are continuing their investigation.

Shooting on Hart Lane

In another violent incident, a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times on the highway in the 5XX block of Hart Lane in the Harrowgate neighborhood at about 4:24 a.m. The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital by Medic 8 and is reported to be in stable condition. The scene is still active, but no arrests have been made and no weapons have been recovered. All incidents are currently under active investigation and Philadelphia Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
