NYT Strands today (Game No. 176) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, Game No. 176, are…
- VOLLEY
- DISC
- BAT
- CRUSH
- LOVE
- FOREHAND
- SURCHARGE
- SPANGRAM: GRAND SLAM
- My rating: Simply
- My result: Perfect
My only criticism of today’s strands is that the Spangram doesn’t really sum up the game like it’s supposed to. GRANDSLAM is actually a tennis-related term – but it’s not the overall concept here. If it were, the answers would be specific to Grand Slam events like Wimbledon and the US Open, but that’s obviously not the case – they’re just “words associated with tennis.” That’s a bit silly, isn’t it?
Other than that, though, this is a perfectly acceptable Strands puzzle. Even if you’re not a tennis fan (I like it a bit, but I’m not), you should find it pretty easy since the terms are familiar and not too hard to find.
