Fires destroy two houses in Shreveport within about half an hour

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KSLA) – Shreveport Fire Department battled two house fires within about half an hour on Sunday afternoon (August 25).

At 11:37 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to a one-story home west of Interstate 49 and north of Louisiana Highway 3132.

When the first firefighters arrived on the scene, thick smoke and flames were rising from the roof of the house in the 8600 block of New Mexico Circle.

24 firefighters and eight fire engines were needed to bring the fire under control.

All occupants escaped unharmed. The residents will stay with their families until the apartment is repaired.

Then a man was left homeless after his house in the 600 block of Buckelew Street was severely damaged by fire.

At 12:09 p.m., emergency crews were called to the apartment building between Wall Street and Foster Street, the fire department reported. When the first firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were rising from the right side of the apartment building.

21 firefighters and seven fire engines were needed to bring the second fire under control. It was under control within 10 minutes of firefighters arriving.

All residents of the house were able to escape unharmed.

And the damage to the house besides the fire was minimal.

The residents will stay with family members until the house can be repaired.

The causes of these two fires are being investigated.
