Woman found dead in Bankura jungle

Bankura: A 46-year-old woman was found dead in mysterious circumstances at Bankadaha Jungle in Bankura on Sunday morning.
CPM and BJP netas raised concerns that she may have been raped and murdered. The police have registered a case of murder based on her husband’s complaint and have initiated an investigation under sections 103/1 and 238 of the BNS.
Amarnath Shakha, MP from Onda and BJP district president in Bishnupur, shared information about the death on social media, claiming that the victim was raped.
Police said the woman, who lived in Chanchar village, went missing from her house on Saturday. After a fruitless search, her husband filed a missing person’s diary at around 9.30 pm the same evening. A day later, police found her dead, half-naked. Police said there were no visible injury marks on the body. Bankura SP Vaibhav Tiwari said, “We are waiting for the post-mortem report.”
Shakha stressed the need for a full investigation, suggesting that the circumstances in which the woman was discovered suggested that she may have been tortured. The MP said they would decide on further action after reviewing the autopsy report.
Ajit Pati, CPM Bankura district secretary, said they were waiting to know what exactly happened.
