BALTIMORE – It will be hot and humid for students heading back to school Monday. A dangerous heat warning day was declared Wednesday.

After a lovely weekend, the weather promises to be hot and humid for the start of school. The high pressure system that has brought us a pleasant period of weather is moving east. This will make the region warmer and more humid again.

Temperatures on Monday morning will be above 18 degrees for children at the bus stop. It will get warmer throughout the day, with temperatures around midday and above 30 degrees by the time they get home from school. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible on Monday, but it will not be a washout day. We recommend that parents pack an umbrella for the children on Monday.

It will also be hot and humid on Tuesday, but without any rain showers. The maximum temperature on Tuesday afternoon will be just over 35 degrees.

Wednesday is a WJZ First Alert Weather Day with dangerous levels of heat and humidity. Highs on Wednesday will be between 35 and 40 degrees. Feels like temperatures will reach 40 to 43 degrees. Teachers and students going to school will face very harsh temperatures if they don’t have air conditioning.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening. These storms will help dispel the extreme heat.

Pack umbrellas for the kids on Thursday, as there is still a chance of a few showers and thunderstorms. Highs will reach near 90°. Cloudy and cooler weather is likely on Friday, with a few morning showers and scattered drizzle. The afternoon looks warm and muggy, with highs in the 80°.

Labor Day weekend will bring variable clouds, warm temperatures, and high humidity. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible each day, but no day will be a washout.
