Oliver Stone has many opinions on the current film industry and says films like Barbie contribute to the “infantilization of Hollywood.”

In a June 2023 interview, the filmmaker said Ryan Gosling should not have been involved in the Greta Gerwig film and should have focused on “more serious films” instead.

“Ryan Gosling is wasting his time doing this crap for money. He should be making more serious films. He should not be part of this infantilization of Hollywood. Now everything is fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all war films: fantasy, fantasy,” Oliver said in an interview with City AM.

Stone shot at the Fast and Furious franchise, saying that he used to enjoy the films, but lately they have become “like Marvel movies. I mean, how many accidents can you watch?”

In the same interview, Stone also expressed his opinion on John Wickthe franchise starring Keanu Reeves.

“On the plane I saw John Wickso three hours or more. And I fell asleep about 778 times,” he revealed. “I kept waking up and having to deal with him killing more people. It’s like the world has fallen into illogicality.”

The John Wick The film series was directed by Chad Stahelski, the 2023 film Chapter 4 written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch.

Stone has won four Oscars, including Best Adapted Screenplay for Midnight Express and for best director for Born on July 4thStone’s latest film was a documentary titled Nuclear power nowwhich advocates nuclear energy as a necessary solution to combat climate change.
