After a 9-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, the Yankees bounced back with a dominant performance to win 10-3 on Sunday. The Bombers needed a fresh offensive boost and their hitters delivered.

The top of the rankings strengthens the offensive

The first four batters in the Yankees’ lineup accounted for all 10 RBIs, with Gleyber Torres having a standout afternoon. Torres collected two hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in four runs. Both Juan Soto and Aaron Judge also hit home runs, with Judge hitting two home runs to accelerate his chase for 63 home runs, which would break his own record of 62.

Judge has already hit 51 home runs this season and Soto has an impressive 37. Together, the two have hit 88 home runs and are on track to reach 112.

The Yankees offense recorded 12 hits and limited their strikeouts to six. Colorado managed just five hits with eight strikeouts. While the bottom half of the lineup faced challenges, Alex Verdugo and DJ LeMahieu combined for four runs and four hits.

Volpe’s struggles continue

Anthony Volpe was the only player to have a rough day at bat, striking out twice in four at-bats, underscoring his continued inconsistency.

Solid pitching performance

The Yankees’ pitchers had a solid performance, although Marcus Stroman struggled a bit, allowing three earned runs in five innings. Stroman, who has a 3.88 ERA this season, has had two strong outings. On Sunday, he threw 97 pitches, including 56 strikes, allowed five hits and struck out five batters. Although it wasn’t Stroman’s best day, the Yankees’ offense provided plenty of support, scoring in double figures.

The bullpen also delivered strong performances, especially Luke Weaver, who struck out two batters in his scoreless inning in relief.

Yankees prepare for the Nationals Series

That show of dominance was exactly what the Yankees needed against one of baseball’s worst teams. They now prepare to face the Washington Nationals starting Monday. The Nationals have three left-handed pitchers scheduled to start, a challenge for the Yankees, as lefties have been their kryptonite this season.
