The Masked SingerThe loss is Netflix’s gain. Nicole Scherzinger, who served as a judge on the first 10 seasons of Fox’s celebrity guessing game, is venturing into new reality territory as a judge on the upcoming Netflix series Structure of the bandTVLine has learned.

The face (and voice) of the Pussycat Dolls will be joined on the podium by Kelly Rowand of Destiny’s Child and Liam Payne of One Direction. In keeping with the pop group theme, AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys will host the show.

Netflix describes Structure of the band as a “truly unique competition show” in which singers form bands in “booths” without actually seeing each other. When building their band, they must rely solely on “musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit.” After forming, the bands finally meet face to face, where “looks, choreography and style” suddenly come into play. Netflix promises “incredible performances, gripping drama and one big goal – to find the next big music band.”

“Structure of the band is a brave and bold undertaking for everyone involved as we give the singers the power to form their own band based on chemistry first,” says executive producer Cat Lawson. “Can they form a deeper connection with their bandmates when looks no longer matter? With limited bands there are difficult decisions and heartbreaking moments along the way but ultimately the result is truly amazing and bands are formed that I believe are worthy of the very biggest stage!”
