Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker sends message after disrespecting Carmelo Anthony

PHOENIX – Phoenix Suns stars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant were both instrumental in the United States’ dramatic 17-point comeback against Serbia yesterday, a 95-91 victory.

Booker used the comeback to land a blow at Serbian Bogdan Bogdanovic.

The Suns’ former first-round draft pick from 2014 is now a key player for the Atlanta Hawks – and probably the second best foreign player in the country after Nikola Jokic.

Yesterday he led Serbia with 20 points, but caused shock waves in the USA by replicating Carmelo Anthony’s trademark three-point celebration after a layup in the middle of the game (in the presence of the player himself) and probably exchanging a few nice words with LeBron James.

After the game, Booker posted a picture of himself on Instagram doing the same Anthony celebration, captioned it, “Respect the legends” and tagged the future Hall of Fame forward in the story.

Booker’s long-standing respect for the history of the game and his predecessors has played a large part in endearing him to the NBA community.

He has shown great and enduring respect for legends like Ray Allen, the late Kobe Bryant and Anthony, due in large part to how far he has come in his career in Phoenix.

Booker only contributed six points in this game, but played the entire fourth quarter, played admirable defense on nearly every possession, and hit a crucial three-pointer about halfway through the final quarter to keep the momentum going toward the win.

The potential two-time gold medalist has inherited what his predecessors left behind and will look to carry that momentum to bring the first NBA title to Phoenix in 2025 – which would cement the legendary status he is striving toward with great force.
