The claim: Video shows tornado from August 8 in Tennessee
An Instagram post from August 8 (direct link, archive link) shows a montage of tornado and storm footage.
“Tornado in Tennessee today. OMG,” reads a text superimposed over the footage.
The post was shared more than 100 times in one day.

The video is old and does not show a tornado from August 8 in Tennessee. According to a local meteorologist, there were no tornado reports in the state that day.
No tornadoes were reported in Tennessee on August 8
On August 8, after the video was released, National Weather Service meteorologist Cory Mueller told USA TODAY that there had been no tornado reports so far that day.
“Conditions are not favorable for tornadoes, large tornadoes or severe weather,” he said.
He pointed out that tornadoes were reported in North Carolina that day.
The video in the Instagram post is old—a version was uploaded to YouTube on July 12. The montage includes clips of a hailstorm in Texas in 2023 and a storm in Michigan in May.
