So I hope AI will help with that. It won’t solve all the problems, but it will help us, for example, shorten the life cycle. I think games take way too long to develop, like five years per game. We predict – especially in a fast-changing world – what the zeitgeist will be in five years. Basically that means everything will be hit and miss, and hopefully AI will help us streamline processes so that hand-work can be done faster. Ideally we can shorten it to three years, so we can iterate more, which will bring budgets down a bit. I don’t think they’ll really get cheaper, but at least you fail faster and then you can keep going until you get the right one.

And I think we as a games industry need that, and hopefully AI will help us evolve as well. I mean, we haven’t really had that many new games and genres. But then again, we’ve been around since 1996, we’re an established industry. In 1996, you looked out the window and said, “Let’s make a skateboarding game.” It was as simple as that… Movies or music, which have been going through this for much, much longer than us, have a hard time coming up with something new… But I think ultimately, as an industry, we definitely need to innovate on many levels to evolve faster and also be willing to take more risks.
