Tiered Rankings for Half-PPR Fantasy Football Leagues

Player tiers are a useful tool for making decisions during your drafts. The players grouped in the same tier are quite similar, making them equally valuable additions to your fantasy team. If you’re pressed for time and see that several remaining players at a position are in the same tier, you know that you can probably wait for another round at that position because one of the players at that tier is likely available. Whichever player that is, he’s almost as good as the player you’d get if you drafted that position earlier.

Below I will lay out the tiers of our half-PPR rankings for the key attacking positions, but first let me describe how these tiers were created.

methodology

As described above, the goal in selecting tiers is to make sure players within a tier are easily interchangeable. Specifically, we want the largest difference in projected fantasy points between any two players in the same tier to be small. The tiers you see below were created by considering all possible ways to divide players into tiers and choosing the one that minimizes the largest point difference within a tier.

As you’ll see below, fantasy-relevant players within a tier have very similar point projections in almost all cases.
