Fortnite Battle Pass items will no longer be exclusive

Fortnite Battle Pass items will no longer be exclusive

Battle Pass items typically feature exclusive cosmetics that are no longer available in live service games after the season ends. However, with a new announcement from Epic Games, that seems to be changing for some titles. According to an August 7 Fortnite blog, Epic mentioned that Fortnite Battle Pass items will no longer remain exclusive.

In this blog, Epic says: “Items in future Fortnite Battle Passes may be available for purchase in the Fortnite Shop for 18 or more months after the Battle Pass expires.” This means that the exclusivity of Battle Pass items will no longer exist 18 months after the pass expires. Epic also mentions:

“A Battle Pass item may contain a different number of its alternate styles each time it hits the store.”

Changes to item exclusivity in the Fortnite Battle Pass

With these changes, some questions might confuse all Fortnite players. Epic has also answered them in the short FAQ. According to Epic, not all items will be available for the shop after the Battle Pass ends. What if it is eligible? Well, the eligible items will find their way after 18 months of Battle Pass expiration.

However, this does not confirm that cosmetics from a Battle Pass will hit the shop immediately. This includes all items including outfits, back blings, pickaxes, emotes, instruments, stickers, wraps, loading screens, banner icons, and more.

In addition, skins with multiple styles will be available in the shop, but there is a catch. These skins come in a random style. If the skin has a “LEGO style” then it will come in any style. Epic also says that after the threshold time passes, you can purchase items in the “Bonus Rewards” and “Quest Rewards” tabs in the shop.

Although Epic states that there will be no changes to the Battle Pass, the IP items that were exclusive to the Battle Pass, such as Deadpool or Spider-Man, could come to the shop. Also, if there are rewards that can only be earned through the Battle Pass quests, these could appear in the item shop. The change is expected to occur at the start of Chapter 5, Season 4.
