Lake Mary All-Stars win the US Little League World Series championship with 10-7

WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. – The Lake Mary All-Stars’ magical run in the Little League World Series continued Saturday with a 10-7 win over Boerne, Texas, in the U.S. championship game.

Boerne was first on the scoreboard, scoring a run in the second inning on a wild pitch from JJ Feliciano. They scored one more run before pitcher Feliciano got Lake Mary out of the inning.

A two-run double by Boerne’s Doc Mogford in the third inning doubled their lead to 4-0.

Lake Mary, which didn’t get a hit until the third inning, got on the scoreboard with a single in the fourth inning before Feliciano scored the team’s first run.

Lake Mary’s DJ Mieses hit a double to start the fifth inning and later cut the lead to 4-2 with an RBI groundout by Liam Morrisey.

In the same inning, Teraj Alexander scored another run with a double, bringing the score to 4-3.

Lake Mary’s Chris Chikodroff hit a line drive that hit the Texas pitcher in the leg, allowing Lake Mary to score and tie the game.

Alexander then scored after stealing a home run to give Lake Mary a 5-4 lead after the Texas pitcher had his back to the plate.

Boerne tied the game 5-5 with a bases-loaded single in the fifth inning. Texas then regained the lead at 6-5 on a wild pitch from Lake Mary’s Luis Calo. Another wild pitch allowed a second Boerne runner to score, increasing the lead to 7-5.

In the sixth inning, Lake Mary’s Garrett Rohozen hit a double that moved Feliciano to third base. Texas then walked Landon Bono to load the bases for Florida. Jacob Bibaud then hit a single up the middle to score a run and make the score 7-6. Lake Mary then tied the game 7-7 with a sacrifice fly by Liam Morrisey.

In the sixth inning, Calo stepped up, hit a double and scored two runs, putting Lake Mary back in the lead 9-7. Morrisey laboriously stole third base and was able to score 10-7 after an error by Boerne.

In the sixth inning, Calo struck out the first batter before Lake Mary ended the game with a double play.

Lake Mary will face Chinese Taipei in the LLWS championship game on Sunday.
