Julian Hurst made a comebacker that made the double play. A quick pop-out by Garrett Rohozen later puts Texas ahead and Florida’s turn to take the field. No points after the first half inning.

Next up is the US Championship: Texas vs. Florida, which airs at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

Thanks to a remarkable start from Lai Cheng Xi, Chinese Taipei is on its way to the Little League World Series Championship and will play the winner of this afternoon’s game between Texas and Florida.

With 12 strikeouts, Lai Cheng Xi never let Venezuela get going on offense. Now the winner of the Asia-Pacific Championship has a chance at the top prize on Sunday.

Result: Chinese Taipei 4, Venezuela 1

The Chinese Taipei pitcher leaves the game with 12 strikeouts and the lead. A walk and a double now have Venezuela on second and third base with pitcher Chiu Wei-Che.

Venezuela’s Luis Yepez covered a lot of ground and ran a foul ball, which was the best highlight of the inning. Now it’s time for Venezuela to either start a serious comeback, or Chinese Taipei will be heading to the LLWS championship game.

Venezuela was able to enjoy a single from Jhonson Freitez, but that was it, because Lai Cheng Xi managed another strikeout and gave his team the defensive advantage they needed for the final inning. Chinese Taipei 4, Venezuela 0

Venezuela’s players collide in the middle on a pop-up by Chiu Wei-Che. With two outs, centerfielder Samuel Carrasquel failed to start the play after colliding with Venezuela’s shortstop. Chen Bo-Wei scored on the play.

Venezuela now has only six outs to overcome the 4-0 deficit.

The third inning was a similar story. Lai Cheng-Xi increased his total for the day and recorded his tenth strikeout of the day. He now has one one-hitter in four complete innings. Chinese Taipei will enter the fifth inning with a 3-0 lead.

Chinese Taipei scored another run after a walk moved the runner to third base and loaded the bases. Chinese Taipei wasn’t done yet, however, and scored on a catcher’s error. This gave Chinese Taipei a 3-0 lead at the start of the fourth inning.

Both teams defended strongly and prevented any runs in the second inning.

Chinese Taipei’s defense holds Venezuela scoreless in the first inning.

Chinese Taipei comes back with full force and scores a point on a wild pitch, putting the team first on the scoreboard at the start of the first inning.

Stephen Borelli of USA Today writes about the Little League World Series and the young players who make up this wonderful tournament: “We expect them to make it, and we cheer like crazy when they do.”

As the celebrations are filled with tears and high levels of stress, Borelli reminds us that the players entertaining so many this weekend are children and offers some tips on how to not only remember that fact but also make the presentation of the tournament more age-appropriate.

“We love the Little League World Series, but there are subtle ways we can make it even better. This way we can reduce the pressure on the kids who play there and give more of them the opportunity to have a shot,” Borelli writes.

The Little League World Series is divided into two groups: the US group and the international group. Each group conducts its own tournament and the winners of each group compete in the championship.

The US and International brackets are double elimination brackets. This means that even if a team loses the first game, they can still advance to a separate elimination bracket. The winner of the elimination bracket then plays the winner of the winner’s bracket in the US or International finals for a chance to compete in the LLWS Championship.

In other words, a team must be defeated twice to be eliminated from the tournament.
