Is “It Ends With Us” based on the life story of author Colleen Hoover? That is what reports suggest

It Ends With Us recently made headlines after the film adaptation starring Blake Lively hit theaters earlier this month. Prior to the film’s release, Colleen Hoover’s novel was listed as New York’s best-selling novel.

The story of Lily Bloom inspired readers and provided them with a good plot to rely on. Although the book is classified as fictional, reports suggest that some of the passages the author described in the book were inspired by her life events.

The narrative of Lily Bloom’s life of love and tragedy was imaginative, but the scenes in which the author spoke about abusive parent-child relationships were very personal to Hoover.

The author’s father is said to have abused her mother, which led to a strained relationship within the family. Hoover published her two-part novel around the time of the COVID pandemic and gained popularity for her storytelling as fans enjoyed the books very much.

Meanwhile, the film It Ends With Us has faced strong backlash for containing scenes of domestic violence without a trigger warning. Audiences of the film were angry that trigger warnings were not mentioned in the advertising or during the marketing of the film.

The film adapts the main storyline of the book, including the conflicts between Lily and Ryle and the budding young love between Lily and Atlas.

The film’s synopsis states: “Lily Bloom moves to Boston to pursue her lifelong dream of starting her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid soon sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, she begins to discover sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship.”

It continues: “When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan, suddenly re-enters her life, her relationship with Ryle is turned upside down and she is faced with an impossible decision.”

As for the film’s cast, Blake Lively was joined by Brandon Sklenar, Justin Baldoni and Jenny Slate in the lead roles. Moreover, it was Colleen Hoover who asked Baldoni to star in the film and also direct it.
