Mike Flanagan wants you to know this important thing about “Life of Chuck”

It is no secret that Mike FlanaganThe work of is predominantly horror-related. Doctor Sleep To Haunting of Hill HouseThe director has already tackled several scary projects, but his next film project is anything but terrifying. In a panel discussion at FanExpo Canada with his wife and frequent collaborator Kate Siegel in the audience, Flanagan told more about his adaptation of Stephen KingShort story The life of Chuck. Not only did he mention that this was the best film he had ever made, but he also said that audiences needed to keep their expectations in check if they were hoping for another horror story.

. It’s a totally different world for me, and it’s by far my favorite film I’ve ever worked on. The cast is extraordinary, as you said. I’m so proud of this film… If you’re expecting it to be scary, just leave your expectations at the door, because you’re going to be very disappointed. If you’re expecting something that’s a life-affirming celebration and joy and existence and mortality, you’re going to be very happy.”

The film tells the story of Charles Krantz (played by Tom Hiddleston) in reverse order, from his tragic death at 39 to his childhood in a haunted household. In the first image of the project, viewers can get a glimpse of the Loki alum wears glasses and a corporate outfit. Given the cryptic first look and the fact that no official trailer has been released yet, it’s still unclear how closely Flanagan will stick to the source material.



Who will play alongside Tom Hiddleston in “Life of Chuck”?

Apart from Hiddleston, the cast for The life of Chuck is packed. Siegel returns for another collaboration with Flanagan, and she is accompanied by Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 years slave), And Damian Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer). In a conversation with Collider’s own Perri Nemiroff Earlier this year, Gillan said she had already seen a rough cut of the film and “cried for days,” which definitely indicates how emotional the final version will be.

The life of Chuck will have its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place from September 5 to 15.
