Ibrahimovic talks about Mercato so far and remains enigmatic about further signings: “Day six of seven”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Paulo Fonseca has secured two players per position through AC Milan’s work in the transfer window, but does not rule out further signings.

Milan have so far completed four summer signings: Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg, Emerson Royal from Spurs and Youssouf Fofana from Monaco.

In recent days, more emphasis has been placed on departures after Tommaso Pobega moved to Bologna today and rumours suggest that Yacine Adli and even Ismael Bennacer could leave before the window closes.

At the moment, however, the focus is on securing the first league win of the season and the first under Paulo Fonseca in today’s match against Parma at the Stadio Tardini.

Ibrahimovic spoke to DAZN ahead of the match and answered questions about the current state of the squad and the rest of the mercato. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.

Do you still want to play?

“That’s in the past, since I stopped, that feeling is gone.”

They have achieved all the objectives in the window. They have bought players with personality…

“It’s true. We bought players with character who also bring something more on a human level. The team is young, they bring something more. In our opinion, that was missing last year. Let’s hope that things go well today.”

Is the entrance market closed?

“We have doubled the number of players per position on the field. Don’t forget that we have the Milan Futuro. If we bring in too many players, we block the young ones. We believe in young players and are not afraid to push them and put them on the field.”

“They have to be ready, but that is our responsibility. The team is complete, we are on the sixth of seven days and we will see what happens.”

Do you try to talk a lot to young players?

“It takes balance. One day you’re hugging, the next day you’re applying pressure. That’s part of the process, on and off the field. Then when they come in, they can’t back down. When they’re ready, they come in.”

Morata travelled with the team today despite his injury…

“He is still young, I was old. He is one of the leaders, he came to give support. That is important. The team is young. Morata has a lot of experience, mentally and on the pitch.”
