If you’re traveling to Disney World this October, be prepared for the following rides to close!
There’s a lot to consider when planning a Disney World vacation. Of course, you’ll need to choose the best hotel for your family, make dining reservations, and book your transportation. But it’s also important to look for scheduled ride closures so you can prepare your expectations accordingly. Not sure what’s on the October renovation schedule? We’ve got you covered!
Occasionally, Disney World attractions are closed for scheduled maintenance. The duration of these closures may vary depending on the scope and complexity of the work being performed. For example, if an attraction is undergoing a complete remodel, it may be closed longer than an attraction undergoing routine maintenance.
It can be annoying when one of your favorite attractions is closed during your trip, but if you check the schedule in advance, you can at least prepare accordingly. With that in mind, here are all the Disney World attractions that will be closed for renovations in October 2024.
Let’s start with an ongoing closure. The Test Track in EPCOT closed on June 17, 2024 for a major renovation. The attraction is currently undergoing a major redesign and is scheduled to remain closed until 2025, so it will be unavailable for the entire month of October.
Disney revealed more details about the Test Track redesign at this year’s D23 convention. When it reopens, the attraction will “celebrate the innovation of today while highlighting the past, present and future.” It will also include new show scenes showcasing technological advancements, with scenes focusing on “onboard technology, customization and personalization.”
Test Track isn’t the only popular attraction undergoing renovations in October. Heading to the Magic Kingdom, the iconic Jungle Cruise will also be closed in October 2024. The good news is that unlike Test Track, Jungle Cruise won’t be closed for the entire month.
Jungle Cruise will close for renovations on August 26 and is expected to remain closed until October 17. Disney has not released any details about the updates made to the attraction, but it is likely just a routine renovation, as the attraction was completely overhauled several years ago.
Jungle Cruise is currently scheduled to reopen on October 18th, so if you visit later in the month you should still be able to ride, but keep in mind that renovation dates are subject to change!
Currently, Test Track and Jungle Cruise are the only two individual attractions scheduled to close in October 2024. But we have to give an honorable mention to an entire park. Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park has been closed for renovations since March 17, 2024, and will remain closed throughout October.
But don’t worry if you’re a water park fan—Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be open in October, so you can still visit a water park!
This includes all attraction refurbishments scheduled for October 2024 at Disney World. Keep in mind that other rides may close unexpectedly due to technical issues, so you should visit the attractions you want to see as early as possible in case there are unexpected outages later in your trip.
