HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — The Texas Secretary of State is sending inspectors to Harris County to monitor the upcoming November election.
The above video is from ABC13’s 24/7 livestream.
On Friday, the Secretary of State released audits of the 2021-22 election cycle, which revealed deficiencies in Harris County’s election process.
According to the audit, county election officials failed to follow state-mandated rules for maintaining voter rolls, failed to adequately train poll workers, and failed to estimate and deliver the required number of ballots.
This led to voting disruptions in at least 19 polling stations in the November 2022 election, which ABC13 reported on in detail.

Last year, state lawmakers fired Harris County’s election supervisor, and instead appointed the Harris County clerk to oversee elections.
This year, inspectors will monitor the handling and counting of ballots and inspect election materials, the secretary of state said.
The Harris County Clerk’s office said it is currently reviewing the report. The House Elections Committee will also review the data on Monday.
