The Wisconsin football team added a ton of talent in the transfer portal after the 2023 season, and The Athletic has named three Badgers players to its top 100 transfers.
Linebacker John Pius was Wisconsin’s top-ranked recruit, coming in as the No. 29 overall transfer. Pius transferred to Madison in the offseason after three seasons at William & Mary and most recently recorded 53 total tackles, including 9.0 sacks, in the 2023 season. Wisconsin struggled to get to opposing quarterbacks last year, and Pius will look to change that in 2024.
The next Badger on the list is quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who was announced as the team’s starter last week. Listed as the No. 35 transfer, Van Dyke transferred to Wisconsin after amassing 7,469 passing yards and 54 touchdowns in three seasons as a starter at Miami.
Finally, right behind Van Dyke, interior linebacker Jaheim Thomas was listed as No. 36 on the transfer list. Thomas spent the first three years of his college career under head coach Luke Fickell in Cincinnati before recording 90 total tackles, including 6.5 sacks, at Arkansas in 2023. Now that he’s reunited with Fickell and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel in Madison, Thomas will look to take another step up with the Badgers.
