Bebar on the midfielder watch list

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke student in women’s soccer Hannah Bebar has been named to United Soccer Coaches’ list of midfielders to watch for the upcoming 2024 season.

The lists are compiled and released by Division I All-America committees to promote college soccer prior to the official start date of the regular season. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first- or second-team All-Region players from 2023 who are scheduled to return for the 2024 season.

Bebar, a native of Naperville, Illinois, is one of 26 midfielders on the watch list.

Bebar, a two-time United Soccer All-American, started 45 of 47 games over her last three years at Harvard, scoring 17 goals, 25 assists and 59 points, including seven game-winning goals. Bebar played 3,528 minutes and helped the Crimsons to three consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, leading Harvard to its first Ivy League Tournament championship in 2023 with a 3-0 victory over Columbia.

Bebar amassed numerous accolades in her three seasons in Boston. She was selected to the All-Ivy First Team three times, was a semifinalist for the 2022 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, was a 2022 United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American, a 2021 United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American, was on the 2023 Hermann Trophy watch list, was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region three times, was the 2021 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and was twice selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

Last season, Bebar started all 19 games and scored six goals, seven assists and 19 points in 1,485 minutes, the best result of his career.

Her 59 career points ranked her 11th on Harvard’s all-time scoring list, and her 25 assists were tied for 6th. Bebar was only the fifth Harvard player to earn multiple All-America honors. She is a former No. 1 recruit in the country by TopDrawerSoccer, a member of the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team and competed in the U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.

Duke will open the 2024 season on the road at Ohio State on Thursday, August 15 at 7 p.m.
