There is great anticipation in the air for Lorraine Kelly as the birth of her daughter Rosie is imminent.
However, it was the TV veteran’s husband, Steve Smith, who is rarely in the spotlight, that Lorraine thought of when she was at James Martin’s Saturday morning.
The 64-year-old talk show host spoke to TV chef James Martin about her experiences as a novelist and described how her husband of 32 years has supported her.
“I had to be very focused because it’s obviously a full-time job,” the TV star revealed when reflecting on her writing process. “And I was also very lucky that my husband took over the work – when I was engrossed he didn’t mind throwing things in the dryer and he cooks anyway, but he does everything.
“I couldn’t do it alone,” she added.
The loving couple met in 1983 when Lorraine, then 23, was working as a reporter for TV-am and Steve was working as a cameraman. The couple married in Dundee in 1992 and the bride wore a beautiful, flowing dress.
The presenter is preparing for the impending arrival of her grandchild. Lorraine revealed earlier this week that the baby will have a nursery in her Buckinghamshire home, which she shares with Steve, as well as a nursery in Rosie’s house, which she shares with fiancé Steve White.
The 30-year-old mother-to-be shared a cute mobile with hanging clouds that the excited grandmother will hang in the new arrival’s nursery.
Captioning the post, Rosie wrote: “Mum is creating her own nursery at home and this handmade boule bunny and moon mobile by @edieandjo is so special. Can’t wait to see what else is planned! @lorrainekellysmith.”
Rosie announced exclusively to HELLO! in May that she was having a baby girl. “This is the most exciting thing that has happened to our family since Rosie was born,” said Lorraine HELLO!“Last night I felt the baby kick for the first time, it was extraordinary. It felt real.”
