Rumoured casting as social media star on ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity 2024”

Rumoured casting as social media star on ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity 2024”

Earlier this week it was confirmed that I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! will return this year.

The announcement has led to a lot of speculation about who might join Ant and Dec in the jungle. Among the names being discussed are a social media sensation and a TV presenter who is rumoured to be making a surprise comeback.

I’m a Celebrity first aired on ITV in 2002, with Ant and Dec at the helm since the beginning. Tony Blackburn was crowned winner of the inaugural series, followed by other champions including Kerry Katona, Carol Thatcher, Gino D’Acampo, Matt Willis, Vicky Pattison and Scarlett Moffatt.

When the show had to move to Wales in 2020 due to the pandemic, Giovanna Fletcher became the first Queen of the Castle, succeeded by Danny Miller as King of the Castle in 2021, Chronicle Live reports.

Jill Scott emerged victorious as I’m A Celeb returned to Australia in 2022, while last year’s jungle crown went to fan favourite Sam Thompson. The new series is part of ITV’s autumn/winter schedule and the list of potential contestants is constantly growing.

Here we summarize the latest rumors…

Goalkeeper Barry

Social media sensation GK, aka Grace Keeling, who made waves with her UK tour earlier this year, is rumoured to be taking part in the new season of Strictly Come Dancing. However, after her name was conspicuously missing from the confirmed line-up, there is speculation that she will make an appearance in the jungle on I’m a Celebrity 2024.

An insider linked her to the show and said, “GK is very popular with the younger generation and is sharp and quick-witted, which would translate well to campfire conversations with other celebs. Producers say she has a lot of energy and is very entertaining.”

In addition to her successful podcast ‘Saving Grace’, GK has starred in Channel 4’s ‘Don’t Look Down for Stand Up To Cancer’ and appeared as a guest panelist on ‘Loose Women’.

Giovanni Pernice

Meanwhile, Giovanni Pernice, who recently left Strictly amid controversy surrounding his former celebrity partner Amanda Abbington, is being talked about moving to ITV’s I’m a Celebrity.

Despite the ongoing scandal, a source at ITV said: “As long as senior management are satisfied that Giovanni is not a bully and has not behaved inappropriately during Strictly, they will keep him on. They are very aware of how much Strictly viewers will miss him, he is a real fan favourite, so they hope he will attract a lot of viewers.”

Giovanni first appeared on Strictly in 2015 and reached the final three times before finally winning the title with Rose Ayling-Ellis in 2021.

Phillip Schofield

The presenter was first linked to I’m A Celeb last year, just months after his dramatic exit from This Morning and ITV. Now Phillips is being touted for a comeback on I’m A Celebrity 2024.

Ant and Dec, the show’s hosts and close friends of Phillip, are said to have been instrumental in bringing him on board. An insider told The Mirror that Phillip could restore his reputation by going Down Under, where he will be questioned by his co-stars about his affair and its aftermath.

Phillip left This Morning and was subsequently sacked by ITV after admitting to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger member of the daytime programme’s staff.

Tommy Fury

This rumour comes particularly in light of the recent surprise split between Tommy and his fiancée Molly Mae Hague. The boxer has been linked to I’m A Celebrity several times since his breakthrough on Love Island in 2019.

A spokesperson for Ladbrokes hinted that Tommy could move into the jungle, explaining: “Reality TV bosses will surely be lining up to snap up Molly-Mae or Tommy following the surprise split and chances are the latter could move into the jungle later this year.”

Helen Worth

Helen, another TV star initially linked to Strictly this year, will exit her long-running role as Gail Platt in Coronation Street. Soap bosses are keeping quiet about the storyline behind her exit, but it’s all expected to unfold in the run-up to Christmas, with scenes already having been filmed.

This means that Helen would be available should she wish to travel Down Under.

Tom Daley

Strictly Come Dancing bosses signed Olympic gold medallist swimmer Tom Dean this year, and diver Tom Daley, who ended his career at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is now being touted as swapping the pool for the jungle camp.

He is 3/1 odds of appearing on I’m a Celebrity later this year. He has already had reality TV experience on ITV in 2013 and 2014 with his own show Splash, which taught stars such as Gemma Collins and Eddie The Eagle how to dive.

“I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” starts in November.
