Sandra Sangiao – SYS (Satellite k, 2024)

Spanish singer Sandra Sangiao, known for her time with the Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, has opened a new musical chapter with her debut solo album. SYS.

Born from years of singing melodies that touch her deeply, SYS is a joyful transnational collection that crosses personal boundaries. Sandra brilliantly combines traditional roots with modern elements and fantastic vocal overdubs, harmonies and techniques.

Her songs reflect personal experiences, celebrate the women and men in her life as well as motherhood, and choose personal unity rather than division.

Highlights include “Loca” by Silvia Pérez Cruz, the traditional Romanian song “Ederlezi” and the collaborative piece “De tanto bailar” with Marco Mezquida as well as the distinctive composition “La Semilla”.

Supported by a team formed by Dani López (Omac), Efrén López and Míriam Encinas, respected figures in Spanish Mediterranean music, Sandra Sangiao has created an album that recalls a time when music had a deep meaning.

Prior to her solo project, Sangiao gained worldwide recognition as the first singer of the Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra (BGKO), touring extensively throughout Europe and reaching millions of views on YouTube.
